Man’s Eye Almost Ripped Out in Fight at Depot Plaza

Tam Valley resident Adam Peter York, 24, is accused of allegedly trying to tear our his father's eye during an argument.

 

A family argument Monday night ended with a son in jail and his father in the hospital for significant injuries to his left eye, according to Mill Valley Police.

Mill Valley resident Adam Peter York, 24, was booked in Marin County Jail on two open felony charges of domestic battery with serious bodily injury and attempted mayhem, which refers to permanently disfiguring someone. His bail was set at $50,000.

Detective Sgt. Paul Wrapp said Mill Valley Police received a call from witnesses in the Depot Plaza area around 7 p.m. Monday. The father “required pretty extensive medical attention” after a dispute with York, Wrapp said.

“He basically attacked him and seemed to concentrate on the left eye,” Wrapp said. “And just brutalized it.”

Both the suspect and the victim left the scene before police arrived, Wrapp said. Police contacted the victim at Marin General Hospital, where he received multiple stitches around the eye before being released. York went to the police station on Hamilton Dr. for an interview and was subsequently arrested, Wrapp said.

“We’re still working on the case,” he said, “but I think the patrol officers made the right call in booking the suspect.” 

York remains in custody Wednesday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
