Irritating Puppies, $3,750 Stolen Earrings and a Wood Screw Outbreak

This week's roundup of police activities also includes multiples theft of pricey bikes, an elderly thief stealing a quilt and soda getting thrown on a windshield.

July 10

6:37 p.m. – A driver called police to report seeing a huge amount of wood screws in the road near the gutter, and the driver was concerned that the screws would puncture another car’s tires. Police went to the scene and determined that there was a single, non-point screw in the road. No hazard.

9:04 a.m. – A resident reported that her 18-karat, white gold diamond earrings, valued at $3,750, were stolen. The woman told police that she either took the earrings off at work at Piatti’s restaurant or at her hairdresser, and that she had not yet contacted the cleaning crew at Piatti to determine if they’d found the pricey hoops.

9:23 a.m. – The occupant of an office on the second floor of a building in the 100 block of East Blithedale Ave. reported that the building had been broken into over the previous night. According to the report, the burglar gained access by smashing the window of Le Salon downstairs. The caller said a similar incident had happened before.

11:51 a.m. – Someone reported that they were filming between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. in the morning and that someone stole a surfboard used in the shoot. The board was valued at nearly $1,000. The caller later learned that an employee of Mill Valley Market had picked up the surfboard and the caller could there to retrieve it.

7:16 p.m. – A resident of Forrest St. called police to report that there was a puppy crying in the neighbor’s yard and that the noise was irritating.

July 13

4:43 a.m. – A resident of Ethel Ave. reported that her neighbors were having a loud party, the second time this week that they’d done so. The partiers were advised of the complaint.

9:29 a.m. – An older woman reportedly stole a large box containing a quilt, two large pillows and a down comforter from the car of a resident of Carmelita Ave. as she was loading her car. Police were unable to find the alleged elderly thief, who left the area in a silver SUV.

July 14

12:39 p.m. – A black Specialized mountain bike, valued at $450, was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Ethel Avenue.

1:03 p.m. – A resident of Coronet Ave. reported that someone threw soda on the windshield of her husband’s car. It was unclear when the incident occurred. The woman told police that she suspected that her neighbor did it, and gave police her neighbor’s name and address.

2:02 p.m. – A resident reported that his mountain bike, valued at $2,600, was stolen from the back of his Jeep while it was parked outside the Safeway at 1 Camino Alto.

5:45 p.m. – A red and black BMC mountain bike, valued at $1,200, was stolen from outside the Whole Foods Market on Miller Avenue.
