Identity Theft Suspect Arrested At Marin Hotel

Sonoma County sheriff's detectives arrested Jasmine Mitchell, a suspect in an identity theft crime spree, at a hotel in Tiburon Thursday evening. 

Two other suspects, Roy Kim, 34, and Harley Logsdon, 46, both of San Pablo, were arrested on Monday. 

Mitchell, 33, of San Pablo, is the daughter of Artie Mitchell who was fatally shot by his brother Jim Mitchell in 1991. The Mitchell brothers were pornographic film producers and founders of the O'Farrell Theater in San Francisco. 

Sonoma County sheriff's detectives started searching for Jasmine Mitchell in expensive and exclusive hotels in Contra Costa and Marin County Thursday, sheriff's Lt. Tim Duke and Sgt. Mike Raasch said in a news release late Friday morning. 

The detectives learned she stayed under an assumed name Sunday night at the Acqua Hotel in Mill Valley, the sheriff's office said. 

Detectives then checked The Lodge at Tiburon around 6 p.m. Sunday and saw Mitchell walking toward the hotel. She was arrested after a brief struggle, the sheriff's office said. 

Mitchell had counterfeit credit cards, cash and methamphetamine when she was arrested, and there were papers in her purse indicating she was preparing to flee the country, the sheriff's office said. 

Mitchell was taken to the Tiburon Police Department until U.S. Secret Service agents took her into custody, the sheriff's office said. She faces charges from the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Sonoma County and Contra Costa County district attorney's' offices, the sheriff's office said. 

Mitchell eluded capture Monday at a San Pablo apartment that is located across the street from the San Pablo Lytton Casino where she and Kim were living, sheriff's Sgt. Mike Raasch said. 

Logsdon was found there and he was arrested on a no bail warrant for violating his Napa County probation, Raasch said. 

Kim and Mitchell were wanted on warrants for identity theft in Sonoma County, and Kim was wanted by state parole officers in Santa Clara County on warrants for commercial burglary, Raasch said. 

Both the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security were investigating Kim and Mitchell in connection with a large-scale identity theft operation, Raasch said. 

Sheriff's detectives discovered a large-scale clandestine identity theft and credit card operation in the apartment, Raasch said. 

Mitchell arrived at the San Pablo apartment parking lot around 7 p.m. in a white Mercedes 4-door sedan and she escaped after ramming an unmarked police car and striking a parked car with her vehicle, Raasch said. 

Kim was arrested a short time later in a taxicab in Richmond. Kim and Logsdon were booked in the Contra Costa County jail.
