Fireworks on Cascade, Drinking on the Dock of the Bay and Stealing Xanax from a Vet

This week's roundup of police activities also includes a vandalized bike and a Safeway employee blaring music in the middle of the night.





August 21

12:37 p.m. – A resident of Shell Rd. reported that someone used her Social Security number to open a Verizon phone account and rack up a $2,000 bill. The charges were linked to an address in Georgia. Police took a report.

2:21 p.m. – A very loud leaf blower drew a complaint from a resident of Janes Street. Police advised landscapers in the area of the complaint.

4:28 p.m. – A person who was working at Tam High went to the police station to report that she had $50 taken from her purse while she was working at the school. Report filed.

August 22

4:01 p.m. – A resident of the 200 block of Cascade Dr. reported that some kids were setting off fireworks in the street. Police went to the scene, confiscated fireworks from three kids and contacted their parents.

5:09 p.m. – After returning home to find his bicycle laying on its side in the backyard of his home on Buena Vista Ave., a resident reported that the bicycle had been vandalized, with multiple scratches on it and dents in the sidewalk where the bike’s kickstand had been scraped along the ground.

August 23

6:13 a.m. – Someone threw a rock through a window of a home on Ashford Ave., according to a report.

4:28 p.m. – The driver of a Ford Escape reported that a beige Prius being driven by an older man with a goatee struck his car and took off near the intersection of East Blithedale Ave. and Camino Alto.

4:40 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a burglary at a home on Surrey Ave. after a resident returned home to find that a rear door had been smashed open with a rock. It was unknown what items had been stolen from the home.

8:57 p.m. – An employee at CVS in the Alto shopping Center on East Blithedale reported that white man in his late 20s or early 30s stole some cold medicine and fled the store towards Ashford Avenue.

11:48 p.m. – Police received a report that a very intoxicated man with a bicycle was found passed out in the street at Ethel and Montford avenues. Police arrested the man on suspicion of public drunkenness.

August 24

12:25 a.m. – A resident of the 100 block of Ashford Ave. reported that her boyfriend just arrived home extremely intoxicated and began trashing the house and “throwing clothes and shoes” around. He was arrested for public drunkenness.

10:30 a.m. – A manager at the Camino Alto Veterinary Hospital reported to police that an employee may be taking some controlled substances. A small amount of Xanax pills were reported missing after an audit. The manager didn’t have any evidence that the employee had taken the pills, and told police that the theft was not an ongoing issue. The employee was going to be let go because of poor work performance.

August 25

11:18 a.m. – A Mercedes station wagon struck a small dog in the area of Buena Vista Ave. and Linda Dr., injuring the dog. The dog owner was notified of the incident. The Mercedes driver was not injured.

7:30 p.m. – A driver reported to police that the driver of a green Toyota Sequoia with four bikes on the back tried cut him off and ran him into the curb. Police determined that the Sequoia had merged with another lane without looking but that the vehicles did not collide and the victim simply rubbed his wheels on the curb.

7:59 p.m. – Police received a report that a white man in his 40s wearing a white sweatshirt and jeans was sitting on the railing of the dock near Shelter Bay where his boat was tied up. The man was quite drunk and was holding a bottle of wine. Police arrested the man for public intoxication.

August 26

3:58 a.m. – A resident reported that an employee of the Safeway on Camino Alto parks in the lot and blares music from his car stereo every morning, and was doing so now.
