By Bay City News Service:

A Marin City apartment fire left a family of six displaced Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

The blaze was reported just after noon in the 200 block of Drake Avenue, according to Marin County Fire Department Deputy Chief Mark Brown.

Responding fire agencies found smoke and flames coming from a second-story bedroom window, and deputies with the Marin County Sheriff's Office began evacuating residents.

No one was injured, but two parents and four children were displaced, Marin County Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said.

The family is receiving aid and temporary shelter from the American Red Cross.

Twenty-one personnel from Marin County Fire, Southern Marin Fire, Mill Valley Fire and Tiburon Fire knocked down the blaze by 12:20 p.m.

A second alarm was called but units were not deployed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
