DUI Patrols Planned for Cinco de Mayo Weekend
Marin officials have planned countywide DUI saturation patrols this weekend to crack down on drunk driving.
Those planning on drinking margaritas, tequila and other forms of alcohol this weekend to celebrate Cinco de Mayo will want to make sure they have a designated driver to transport them from their festivities.
The Avoid the 13 Marin DUI Task Force has planned DUI saturation patrols throughout the county this weekend. Officers assigned to special saturation patrols will be on the lookout for inebriated drivers, as well as every routine traffic and patrol officer assigned on duty this weekend.

“With Cinco de Mayo celebrations on the rise across the country, alcohol-impaired crashes, injuries and fatalities will also rise,” said San Rafael Police Chief Diana Bishop in a release. “But buzzed driving is drunk driving, and is never safe or acceptable. So folks should plan ahead now to avoid the temptation on the big day.”
If caught and arrested for DUI, suspects can often face jail time, loss of their driver’s license and it could cost up to $10,000 in fees, fines, and higher insurance rates.
