Driver Who Crashed Through E. Blithedale Salon May Have Fallen Asleep at Wheel

London Salon owner Kim Ngo was in the middle of giving blonde highlights to a client when the Honda crashed through her building.

The driver who crashed into the front of London Salon at 171 E. Blithedale and sent a vintage streetlight flying into the window of another salon two doors down, is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, said Mill Valley Fire Battalion Chief Scott Barnes.

The airbags deployed and the driver was not injured, according to Mill Valley Police.

Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, London Salon owner Kim Ngo was in the middle of giving blonde highlights to a regular client when the Honda crashed through the building, shattering glass and spraying artwork and hair products throughout the front room, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Neither she nor her client were hurt. The driver first hit a street light and Sage Salon at 160 E. Blithedale was closed when the pole swung through the window halfway up the block and took out a desk.

“It was a pretty hectic scene,” Barnes said.

The city is still accessing the structural damage at London Salon. In the meantime, Ngo told the IJ she plans to work out of Le Salon until her business is repaired. Sage Salon owner Maha Case plans to reopen as soon as possible.
