Crash Snarls Evening Traffic on East Blithedale

An SUV and a van collided at the Ashford Street intersection Friday afternoon, leaving one woman injured.

Two cars collided at the intersection of East Blithedale and Ashford avenues Friday afternoon, leaving one woman injured and snarling traffic on Blithedale for more than two hours, according to Mill Valley Police.

Police Sgt. Paul Wrapp said a Chrysler minivan was attempting to turn left out of Ashford onto East Blithedale and was struck in the front driver's side by a Jeep Cherokee heading west at around 4:15 p.m. The crash sent the minivan onto the shoulder of the eastbound lane of Blithedalem while the Jeep careened sideways in the westbound lane and had its bumper torn off, according to witnesses.

The crash left the driver of the mini-van complaining of back and neck injuries and she was transported to the hospital, according to Wrapp.

East Blithedale was closed in both directions between Lomita Drive and Ashford for nearly two hours, with westbound Blithedale traffic diverted through the Sutton Manor neighborhood and eastbound traffic sent through Enchanted Knolls.
