Motorcycle Officer Injured in Tiburon Crash

While he was responding to a traffic accident on Tiburon Blvd., officer collided with a Volvo, sustaining multiple injuries in the process.

A Tiburon Police Department motorcycle officer was injured this afternoon in a collision with a Volvo while responding to traffic collision, the California Highway Patrol said.

Michael Slobodnik, 53, suffered possible broken bones in his shoulder, arms and ribs and head trauma injuries, CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said.

He was taken to Marin General Hospital, and his injuries are not life-threatening, Hohmeister said.

The collision between the 2006 Harley Davidson police motorcycle and a 2007 Volvo XC70 happened at 12:10 p.m. approximately 150 yards east of the state Route 131 and Trestle Glenn Boulevard intersection in Tiburon, Hohmeister said.

Slobodnik was riding west on Route 131 in response to a collision at the intersection, Hohmeister said.

That collision was initially reported to include injuries, but there was only property damage, Hohmeister said.

The Volvo driver, Cheryl Jordan, 46, of Tiburon, was not injured, Hohmeister said.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
