UPDATED: Body Found in Vehicle Down Embankement Off Panoramic Highway

Marin County fire Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said a body was found in the vehicle and emergency responders were working Tuesday afternoon to recover it.

Update 2:45 p.m.: 

A body was found Tuesday afternoon in a vehicle that went down an embankment off of Panoramic Highway in Marin County, a fire battalion chief said.

The vehicle was reported down the embankment shortly after 1 p.m. on a portion of the highway between Stinson and Muir beaches, California Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Barclay said.

California Highway Patrol officers are responding this afternoon to a report of a vehicle that went down an embankment on Panoramic Highway in Marin County, a CHP spokesman said.

The vehicle was reported down the embankment shortly after 1 p.m. on a portion of the highway between Stinson and Muir beaches, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

Officers are en route to the scene and a CHP helicopter has also been asked to assist in the response, Barclay said.

He said authorities do not yet know if there is someone in the vehicle or how it got down the embankment.
