Car Hits Bicyclist Near Hwy. 101

Cyclist injured Friday afternoon while heading westbound on Tiburon Blvd. toward Mill Valley.

A cyclist heading west on Tiburon Blvd. towards Mill Valley was struck by a car Friday morning, sending the 55-year-old Belvedere to the hospital with an injured shoulder and a number of abrasions, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Spencer Hosie was riding his bike on Tiburon Blvd. between North Knoll Road and the entrance to northbound Hwy. 101 at around 8:10 a.m. when the driver of a gray Toyota Avalon heading east made a left turn onto the Hwy. 101 on-ramp, according to CHP spokesman Chris Rardin. The driver, 59-year-old Herman Vandenberg of Sausalito, failed to yield to the cyclist.

Hosie collided with the front right side of the Avalon and was taken to Marin General Hospital by Southern Marin Fire.
