By Bay City News Service

A 52-year-old bicyclist was injured in a head-on collision with a vehicle on Mount Tamalpais in Marin County today, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP responded to reports of a collision involving a cyclist on Panoramic Highway near Pan Toll Road at about 11:30 a.m., Officer Andrew Barclay said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the biker was riding west toward Stinson Beach when he veered into oncoming traffic at high speed, Barclay said.

He crashed head-on into a vehicle and suffered multiple broken bones, Barclay said. The man was taken to Marin General Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

The crash remains under investigation by the CHP

Sad anytime person or persons injured, was this cyclist wearing helmet? Need registration for bikes and operators license for bicyclists, this way insures safe training. Bikers on roadways need training for interactions with vehicles on today's roadways, safer for all users of bikes no matter ages to be trained. Younger better because young children's minds are very skilful, like a new computer thirsting for educational information. All bikers need education for operating bikes, 95% plus accidents on Golden Gate Bridge are bikers running into bikers, not tourist bikers but weekend bikers running out of control speeding across west side of bridge.
