Bicyclist Pleads Not Guilty to Mill Valley Road Rage Assault on Truck Driver

By Bay City News Service:

A Kentfield man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the assault of a pickup truck driver during an apparent road rage incident in Mill Valley in April.

Jeffrey Smock, 40, was riding a bicycle in the area of Camino Alto Avenue and East Blithedale Avenue on April 16 when he got into a traffic dispute with the 55-year-old truck driver, identified by Marin County Chief Deputy District Attorney Barry Borden as Roman Laskowski.

Mill Valley police arrested Smock on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after the incident and prosecutors have charged him with assault likely to cause great bodily injury.

Smock's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27.
