This Police Car is Checking Out Your License Plate

Have a look under the hood, so to speak, of the Mill Valley Police Department's new Dodge Charger, featuring an automated license plate reading system

This Mill Valley police car has a camera mounted on its roof to take photos of every vehicle license plate as the police car passes ... even cars going the opposite direction!

The police car has an automated license plate reading system, with two rooftop cameras transmitting images back immediately to a monitor inside the police car.

Officer Eric Sanderson explains and shows how the camera works and what he sees on his monitor every time he passes another car.
