Are You Missing This Safe?

Police have been unable to locate the owner of this safe, found in the Safeway parking lot on Jan. 4.

For more than a week, the Mill Valley Police department has been trying to find the owner and origin of an abandoned safe that was found by an officer on patrol on Jan. 4 at 4 a.m. in the parking lot of Safeway at 1 Camino Alto.

The safe is locked and it doesn't feel or sound as though it has anything inside, according to Sgt. Paul Wrapp. The department sent out an investigative flyer to law enforcement agencies throughout the Bay Area to see if anyone had a report of a stolen safe, to no avail.

The safe is approximately 18 inches wide and 24 inches tall.
