A Week of Bumper Cars in Mill Valley

This week's roundup of police activities includes vehicles colliding with trees, poles and each other at a higher than usual clip.







July 23

5:02 p.m. – A resident of the 400 block of East Blithedale Ave. called police to complain that cars driving over one of the steel planks covering a hole in the road as part of the city’s overhaul of street was making a lot of noise. Police spoke to construction company and provided some advice.

8:18 a.m. – A resident reported that her green 2004 Mini Cooper was stolen from the Safeway Parking lot on Camino Alto. The car was parked overnight near the Goodwill drop-off trailer.

11:47 a.m. – A large truck struck a PG&E utility pole on Lovell Ave. and Madrona St. damaging the pole. Police informed PG&E. No one was injured.

8:51 p.m. – A resident of the 200 block of Buena Vista Ave. reported that a 15-year-old girl wearing an AC/DC t-shirt, whom she did not know, tried to strangle her friend. No medical attention was required.

July 25

2:19 p.m. – A silver Toyota Tundra was driven into a tree in the 100 block of Miller Ave. No one was injured.

2:42 p.m. – The driver of a gray Chevy Traverse reported that he accidentally struck a moving van, damaging the van’s tires. The driver told police that the driver of the moving van was yelling at him but had ceased yelling.

July 26

10:11 a.m. – The driver of a white sedan went off the roadway in the 300 block of Molino Ave. and “hit things,” and the driver was out walking around when a resident reported the incident to police. No medical attention was required and the rental car was towed to the Hertz shop in San Francisco.

4:34 p.m. – A resident came out of Safeway on Camino Alto and noticed damage to his 1990 blue Subaru Legacy parked in the lot. The resident was told by a Goodwill employee located in the lot that another car of an unknown make and model had struck his Subaru.

July 27

3:30 p.m. – A resident reported that another car hit his car’s rear bumper and dented it while the car was parked in the 700 block of Edgewood Avenue.

10:01 p.m. – A resident of the 200 block of Manor Drive reported that a live band was performing in the area and it was too loud. Police discovered that the music was coming from a party at the Mill Valley Tennis Club, that it was not a live band and that the party would be ending shortly.

The same resident called back an hour later to say the music was even louder. The partyers agreed to shut it down.

July 28

4:37 p.m. – A resident of the 500 block of East Blithedale Ave. reported that one of the steel plates covering the hole in the street as part of the city’s overhaul of the road had become dislodged. The caller was worried a car tire would fall into the hole. The city’s construction crew was informed of the dislodged plate.
