MV Man Arrested For Attempted Murder in Connection with San Rafael Shooting

The victim underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the torso and was hospitalized for several days.

Police arrested two Marin County men on suspicion of attempted murder for the alleged shooting that left a victim hospitalized, authorities said.

Cameron Weaver, 23 of unincorporated Mill Valley and Ruben Torres, 23 of San Rafael are accused of shooting a 29-year-old San Rafael man on October 22.

The victim who told police he was with friends on Pelican Way when he was approached by a man whom he didn’t know who opened fire on him, San Rafael Police Department spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

The victim went to a San Rafael Fire Department station on Castro Street seeking medical care, Rohrbacher said.

The victim was treated by paramedics and transported to Marin General Hospital. He underwent surgery and was released several days later.

Police serving a search warrant arrested Weaver at his Knoll Lane residence at about 10:30 a.m., Rohrbacher said.

He was in his car carrying a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest., Rohrbacher said.

Torres, who was already in custody at Marin County Jail on a probation violation, was rebooked, Rohrbacher said.

Authorities have not indicated which suspect was the triggerman in this case.

Both suspects are being held on $500,000 bail.
