I came to America at 3rd, July,2013. My first family was in Virginia. They have four children. And no public transportation here. I’m always overworked and not treated respected. I try my best but maybe we are not a fit match so I decided to rematch a new family. And here I am. California!!   I rematched with a really nice family at the end of August . They have 2 cute boys! They treated me like a family and always give choices ! They respected me and let me explore . I fully live my life!

What I got

I practice my driving skill!!
I knew more English idioms and more culture custom.
I got a lot foreigner friends !
I learned how to organize the email and how to speak English more natively from my professional host mom.
I can do more housework. Like I know the right way to fold the cloth!
What do I suggest
Have a good attitude.
I made a lot mistakes at my new family. I can’t say I’m a really good AuPair but I think the family and I still have a good relationship . Of course the family is nice and professional. The other thing due to I have a good attitude ,I think.
I always have a smile on my face. Even there is something made me a little bit sad. Cause I know the upset and the blame can’t change what happen but will ruin ourselves . Keep positive and find a way to solve the problem is the way to make everybody happy.
Try to do something you are interesting on you off time! That will make your work time have more passion !
Wish these will be helpful.

And thank you Pam to give me this chance!!!
Fiona

I just want to add that Fiona was a great Au Pair, even with her few mistakes, her host family was patient, thoughtful and understanding and believed in Fiona a great deal.  We all recognized that Fiona is smart, and genuinely wanted to learn and do well. As such, Fiona’s wonderful host family worked through her issues, and helped her to get back on track because they knew her potential, believed it and could see it.  We all could.

Fiona finished a successful program year and we are all wishing her the best as she goes forth, pursuing a double major at a local university.  On behalf of all of us at Go Au Pair, thank you for your hard work this past year and we all wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.  Thank you Fiona, for sharing your story.  We loved reading this!
