Firefighters Battling Mill Valley House Fire

Just wondering if anyone knows of any plans mill valley has to get the crazy weeds under control! I literally cannot see around the medians on miller. They are everywhere but miller seems to be the worst! Unsightly for sure

I was wondering the same thing yesterday! And yes, a volunteer Saturday is a good idea. I would be happy to help.

I would totally be up for helping....or maybe we make the kids do it. Lol. I also often wonder why the Mill Valley medians never get the loving care like other towns do. Sausalito has lovely swaying feather grasses in their medians, Larkspurs are filled with flowers and we have weeds!! I guess one step at a time....Let's keep talking about whacking.

Agree, this issue needs addressing. The fire danger alone is very significant. High travelled spots need to be "coiffed". I asked, years ago, about our corner, which meets Miller. I couldn't see if students were crossing, or not! I was told, we don't have the $$. I was willing to do on my own, but felt there were liability issues if I, "crossed the line", with our weed wacker. Mill Valley is "weed central" compared to the well maintained entries and communities of Tiburon, Corte Madera, Larkspur and others. You really can make progress by weed wacking before they re seed. We need mandatory weed supervision and control. Time is now for our citizens to form neighborhood groups to work with their local fire departments to get neighbors to weed. It was mandatory, 25+ years ago. If a citizen didn't comply with the inspection and VERY short time to complete the work, it was done for you and charged on your tax bill, at a much higher rate than if you had done this on your own. Where's the action on this issue??

Not to belabor this subject, however, since this issue has been brought to the forefront, I feel it really needs to be addressed. Today, while driving to the Blithedale entry to 101, I couldn't help but look around and notice the major weed problem. Such a fire danger. Our lovely city has a seriously shabby entry!!

I've recently been working with, Clean Mill Valley, we do trash pick ups in various spots all over MV, its a great group of people who have been living in MV for many years and really care about this community. Joan Murray is in charge, locustmv@pacbell.net she knows alot of whats going on about keeping MV clean and pretty. Send her an email Im sure she would steer you in the right direction.
