Mill Valley Man Identified in Deadly Weekend Crash

A 68-year-old Mill Valley resident died this weekend when he crashed in a heavily wooded area of town, sheriff's officials said Monday.

Thomas Miles Meadoff died in the single-vehicle crash in the area of 148 Woodbine Drive in Mill Valley, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

"Preliminary information indicates Mr. Meadoff was the driver and solo occupant of the motor vehicle when it exited the roadway of Greenwood Way and overturned down the hillside toward Woodbine Drive where it came to rest," a sheriff's statement said.

At about 10:30 a.m. Sunday the Marin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team was called upon by Mill Valley police and fire crews to assist in locating the driver of a black Jeep Cherokee that had traveled about 50 feet down the embankment, Lt. Doug Pittman said.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

"The Coroner Division’s investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death are ongoing and no further information regarding the investigation will be released at this time," sheriff's officials said.
