Student Claims Garamond Font Could Save Government $234 Million:  A fourteen-year-old student is making national headlines by claiming the federal government could save over $200 million simply by switching to Garamond font on its documents because its thinner, it’s lighter and uses less ink.  Now if some kid can figure this out, it makes you wonder just what the Helvetica is wrong with the government! 

Putin and Wife Officially Divorce:  The Kremlin has announced that Vladimir and Lyudmila Putin’s divorce has been finalized after they jointly announced on television last June that they would be breaking up.  In the settlement, Mrs Putin will reportedly get a monthly alimony payment, the couple’s summer house on the Black Sea and half of the Ukraine.

Pat Robertson Warns Against Buying Things By Computer:  Televangelist Pat Robertson warned his 700 Club viewers that buying things by computer could very well be what is described in the Bible’s book of Revelation as the “Mark of the Beast.”  Yes, and listening to anything Pat Robertson says is the “Mark of Stupidity.”  

Feds to Require Rearview Cams on Cars:  The federal government announced that it will begin requiring automakers to install rear visibility cameras in all vehicles weighing less than 10,000 pounds.  For LA drivers, this technology has the added benefit of being able to view on screen all the horror that your driving has created for everyone behind you.  And if you drive a Rolls or a Bentley, the cameras will of course come in 4K.

Oldest Known Pottery Found in China:  Archaeologists say that pottery fragments found in a south China cave have been confirmed to be 20,000 years old, making them the oldest known pottery in the world.  Scientists caution that while the pottery is quite attractive, it shouldn’t be considered microwave safe. 

Teen Gets Stuck in Storm Drain Trying to Retrieve Her BlackBerry:  Firefighters had to lift a teenage girl out of a storm drain in Dover, U.K., after she wedged herself inside while trying to retrieve her BlackBerry mobile phone which had fallen in the sewer.  I don’t fault her one bit.  If I still owned a BlackBerry in 2014, I think I’d probably throw myself right down the sewer too.
