The Tam High Girls Golf team's 2012 Season got off to a rough start with four new young players on the roster and the loss of their Senior Co-Captain, Holly Oakander, for the first three matches due to an illness. Half way through the Season, their record was 2 and 5 but the team was showing steady progress.
Hopes for a run at making the MCAL Tournament seemed dim until suddenly all the hard work and great attitude from the girls paid off and they had a three match winning streak topped by a huge upset of Redwood where the team recorded the best overall score in the four year coaching career of Coach John Haight at Tam.
Although the team came one victory short of reaching Post- Season, the 6 and 8 record far exceeded early season expectations. Led by Co-Captains Trisha Chang and Holly Oakander and incredibly improved play by Junior Christina Fallone, Sophomore Kimiko Shiro, and Freshmen Courtney Chang, Maddie Stoops and Shay Engstrom, the team had a wonderfully positive Season. Trisha Chang played in the MCAL League Tournament and was accepted by the NCS review committee to represent the team in the NCS Qualifier on October 22nd.

While the team will miss the leadership of their Senior Co-Captains next year, there will be a nice group of returning players for next years season.
