MUST WATCH VIDEO: Mill Valley Cub Scouts Go to Space

Being a couple of big kids themselves, Mill Valley residents Dan Murray and Brian O'Keefe loved having the chance to go to space with their kids.

The following was submitted for publication by Brian O'Keefe:

On April 5, Mill Valley Cub Scout Pack 1 Den 4 sent their Space Explorer badges to 78,000 feet.

Being a couple of big kids themselves, Den Leader Dan Murray and Brian O'Keefe loved having the chance to go to space with their kids.

"We have first graders in Cub Scouts and wanted to help them get their space exploration merit badges... so we sent a weather balloon into space (well the stratosphere at 78,000 feet) and successfully retrieved it," O'Keefe said.

The balloon was launched from Boyle Park in Mill Valley and picked back up in Moss Landing.

See the attached GoPro video for a unique vantage point of the project!
