Zero Waste Week Kicks Off with 'Trashed' Screening

Documentary features actor Jeremy Irons setting out to discover the extent and effects of the global waste problem.

Zero Waste Marin is among the sponsors of this year's Zero Waste Week, a week-long series of events designed to promote the idea of getting to zero waste. The Marin Hazardous and Solid Waste Management Joint Powers Authority (JPA) has established a goal of achieving 80 percent waste reduction in the next five years and zero disposal by 2025.

The series of events, the brainchild of the Northern California Recycling Association (NCRA) and the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA), include a screening of Trashed, a documentary from British filmmaker Candida Brady that features actor Jeremy Irons setting out to discover the extent and effects of the global waste problem, travelling around the world to beautiful destinations tainted by pollution.
