Mill Valley Historical Society Annual Meeting and Potluck Dinner

Dinner will be followed by, and most likely overlap, a short business meeting. The 2012 officers and board members will be announced and voted in.

Immediately following the business meeting, there will be a short presentation by Mill Valley Historical Society President Tim Amyx entitled: "The History of Mill Valley in 10 Minutes."

It will be a quick 10-minute slide show, showing historical photos of Mill Valley's recent and long ago past. All you didn’t know about Mill Valley in 10 minutes. This brief slideshow will be followed by the evening's Main Event - a presentation by local historian, Lissa McKee.

Before the post-war suburbanization of Marin, dairy ranches covered much of the slopes and valleys south of Mount Tamalpais. For nearly a century, the majority of those ranches were operatedby immigrants from Azores, nine small islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

McKee will share historic maps, photos, and colorful stories of life in early Mill Valley from the perspective of the immigrant dairy farmers.

McKee is a long time Mill Valley resident who resides in Tam Valley. MVHS welcomes her back again. She has on two different occasions given presentations to the MVHS on the history of Tam Valley.

The evening's festivities should wrap up by 9 p.m. Event is free with MVHS membership. NOn-members can sign up at the door for $15.
