Community Corner

Book Sale

The Friends of the Mill Valley Public Library have held books sales for nearly two decades. Sale proceeds are donated to the Library to enhance the collection, to cover the cost of Library programs and equipment such as hands-on computer classes, and other special needs.

In order to make their sales profitable, the Friends rely on generous donations from the community. They welcome donations of most categories of books in good condition (please, none that are dirty, mildewed, dog-eared, or underlined). Other items that sell well are video tapes, books on tape, CDs, and DVDs.

The Friends do not accept encyclopedias, textbooks, business or computer books more than five years old. No magazines or record albums; Please recycle such items.

You may bring your donations into the Library during open hours, or directly to the Friends book sale area (lower level side entrance) on Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 am to noon.

You may also drop off small donations at the Friends green collection bin inside California Savings at 70 Throckmorton Avenue, Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Fridays until 6:00 pm. If you are unable to bring books to one of these locations, please call Jim Derich 415-388-8310 to arrange a pick up.

All donations are tax deductible and the Friends will be happy to provide you with a receipt and a big "thank you!"
