The ranch is a short walk away.

Owned and operated by the

Kirkland family since 1867,

the historic Woolly Egg Ranch is

the only working, sustainable farm

in Tamalpais Valley.  The farm blends the

past with the present; simple living like our grandparents

but with some modern updates.

The ewes should be lambing and the hens will be hatching

a new batch of chicks.  If the weather is good you can

meet the “Woolly Swarm”-the resident honey and pollination experts.

The tour includes discussion about

growing food, caring for fruit trees,

the water collection system for dry

summers, the solar system for electricity,

equipment run on bio fuels, the

environmentally friendly chicken coops,

chickens, sheep and hopefully spring lambs.

The fields can be muddy and uneven, wear

appropriate footwear and dress warmly.  Bring sunscreen.
