Mill Valley Village Presents a FREE Screening of "Rebels with a Cause"

Mill Valley Village (www.mvvillage.org) presents a FREE screening of this stunningly beautiful documentary narrated by Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand.  REBELS WITH A CAUSE spotlights a ragtag group of rebels who fought to keep developers from taking over the breathtaking landscape of the northern California coast and instead established public parks, the first organic dairy west of the Mississippi and the first agricultural land trust in the US.  Beginning in the 1950s, a national movement was born of principles that may seem obvious today. Unconvinced by land developers who promoted residential construction as unmitigated progress, citizens banded together to preserve open spaces near where they lived--eventually establishing the Point Reyes National Seashore and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. REBELS is the story of the original conservationists, the schemers and dreamers whose efforts proved to California and the whole country that individuals have the power to change the rules.  Come early and join us for a no-host dinner after4:00 pm and before the film starts at 6:00 pm.  The film will be introduced by Huey Johnson, one of the original rebels.  Mill Valley Village is part of a national movement dedicated to helping seniors stay in their homes and maintain active, independent lifestyles with the help of a network of local volunteers.  Neighbors helping neighbors.    This event is made possible by support from the Rotary Club of Mill Valley.
