Mill Valley Philharmonic presents Old World/New World

MVP’s fall concert series
features Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World; Arthur Honneger’s
Pacific 231; and Claude Debussy’s Danses Sacrée et Profane with harpist Bertina
Mitchell.  Each of the composers
drew their compositional themes from worlds distant from their own native
lands. Dvořák drew from Native and African American themes, Honneger from the
world of the Industrial Revolution locomotive, and Debussy from the ancient
Greco-Roman world.
