From Chicago: The J. Hanrahan Quartet performing John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme"

“The Hanrahan Quartet embrace, honor, and nurture a masterpiece.” -– Chicago TribuneJohn Hanrahan’s Love Supreme Quartet has been performing together for over 20 years in Chicago and around the globe. The band performs A Love Supreme annually in an effort to share Coltrane's passion for jazz, spirit, and the love of live performance. Considered to be the greatest jazz recording of all time, John Coltrane and his quartet (McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones) recorded the album in 1964 on Impulse Records. This year marks the 50th anniversary of this celebrated album, considered Coltrane’s greatest work, melding the hard bop sensibilities of his early career with the free jazz style he adopted later. This is a tribute well worth any Coltrane fan's time.
