Youth Theatre Classes at 142 Throckmorton Theatre

BEGINNING ACTOR'S TOOLBOX (4 & 5 Graders)

Students will work on building the foundation of acting technique. With different classes focusing on movement, voice, improvisation, building an ensemble, and many other skills, young actors will learn that every class is an acting class. Working toward a final class sharing, students will collaboratively create their own piece of theatre based on fables, fairy tales, and children’s literature.


When: Fridays, 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Dates: JAN 4 - FEB 22 (8 sessions)

ROCKIN’ THE THROCK (4 & 5 Graders)


This class will explore various techniques for acting on stage with emphasis on character development and scene study. Spontaneous improvisational excersises will help the student to become more comfortable and confident while performing before an audience. You'll learn to "fail with good humor" and "make your partner look good" in a supportive theater group. Students will "ROCK THE THROCK" the last day of class in a performance for family & friends.


When: Wednesdays, 4:45pm-6:00pm


Dates: JAN 7 - FEB 20 (7 sessions)

ACTOR’S ENSEMBLE (6 & 8 Graders)


In this stimulating workshop, participants will be encouraged to play, think, and create, discovering their own confidence, inspiration, communication and joy in creating with others. Activities will include theatre games, improvisation exercises, character and scene work. Families will be invited to a performance showcase on the last day of the session.


When: Fridays, 4:45pm - 6:00pm

IT’S SHOWTIME! (8 to 12 year olds)


A Smörgåsbord of Variety Arts! Come one, come all. Find your Funny Bone! Turn somersaults and juggle to your heartʼs delight as you explore the arts of acting, acrobatics, circus, clowning, juggling, mime, movement and improvisation. Juggle scarves! Spin a lasso! Create your own piece! Then put it all together for...Showtime! Share your one-of-a-kind creations and delight family and friends as you take a big bow and say “Tah Dah!”


When: Wednesdays, 3:30pm - 5:00pm


Dates: JAN 9 - FEB 20 (7 sessions)

LITTLE THROCK presents Disney’s the JUNGLE BOOK (ages 6 to 10)


Little Throck is designed to meet the needs of young people with a desire to get on stage! Students will be taught the basics of acting, singing and dance, then put their new skills to work in a 'little' production of Disney's THE JUNGLE BOOK, with costumes, sets, the works! All participants will be in the show! If you liked our Glee class, then you'll love Little Throck! Space is limited!


WHEN: Saturdays, 10:00am - 12:00pm


REHEARSALS: JAN 5 - FEB 16 (8 sessions + performance day)


PERFORMANCE: Sunday, February 17 at 2pm
