Lisa Kindred with Snowblind Traveler

Lisa Kindred is an American folk and blues singer. Born in Buffalo, NY, Lisa grew up listening to a DJ who called himself "The Hound Dog" playing the blues on Sunday morning radio--Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, Robert Johnson--and the seed was planted. Moving on, growing up, but always listening: Dinah Washington, Ruth Brown, June Christie, Lisa says, "I would hear them, and something would compound." At 19, Kindred played local coffee houses. Her husky, earthy, sensual voice has always roused listeners. She decided to relocate to Greenwich Village, a haven for folk and blues artists in the late 50s and early 60s. She became a figure in the Greenwich Village/Cambridge folk scene of the 1960s; she played with Bob Dylan and other folk singers.

Fast forward to today, decades later, and the 70-year-old singer's voice is as power-packed as ever. She's been a fixture in the Bay Area blues scene for many years, and her shows are always a rockin' good time.
