3D Mixed Media/Assemblage Sculptures
SUZANNE STROEBE
Mondays, March 4, 11, 18, and 25.
6:30 to 9 p.m.
4-sessions: $160, $128 OHCA members, $20 one-time materials fee.
In this course we will learn a variety of techniques for creating small, free standing and wall-relief sculptures using the assemblage technique made famous by artists such as Robert Rauschenberg. Techniques will include the use of common and inexpensive materials such as found objects, wood, plaster, paper, and a variety of adhesives, methods for joining materials, and paints. The emphasis will be on abstraction, however each student will be encouraged to find their own direction and vision.
The instructor will also give examples of the use of found objects, assemblage, and wall relief sculpture in contemporary and modern art, for inspiration.
Each workshop will begin with the demonstration of a new technique or material, to be followed by time to work on projects in class. RSVP for the series by February 27.
