WHO
Marin Theatre Company presents
a Diablo Actors’ Ensemble production
Written by Alfred Uhry | Directed by Scott Fryer
Starring L. Peter Callender (The Whipping Man, Seven Guitars), with Timothy Beagley and Ann Kendrick
ABOUT
1988 Pulitzer Prize for Drama
Having recently demolished her car, Daisy Werthan must now rely on the services of a chauffeur, a proud, soft-spoken black man named Hoke (played by the inimitable L. Peter Callender, last seen at MTC in The Whipping Man). She immediately regards him with disdain, and he, in turn, is equally unimpressed with her. In a series of warm-hearted, humorous scenes spanning 25 years, the two develop an unlikely bond despite their mutual differences, growing closer to and more dependent upon one another. Don’t miss MTC’s special presentation of this timeless meditation on race relations in America that has already wowed audiences at Diablo Actors’ Ensemble and African-American Shakespeare Company. | Nine shows only!
