Color Combines w/ ELAINE NEHM

Thursdays, October 3, 10, 17, 24.
6 to 9 p.m.

4-sessions: $160, $128 OHCA members,$20 materials fee.

In the 60s, the paintings and constructions of Rauschenberg and Jasper John signaled a new vision of American Art. These workshops are based on their methods and innovations. You will be making Color "Combines" by using found imagery and objects focusing on using monotypes as the base for these "Combines." You will be challenged to alter the conception of these collected materials by their placement into a new and unfamiliar situation.

We will emphasize looseness and the accidental nature of these elements to create your own personal expression and vision. These workshops will not only emphasize various techniques such as transfers and color printing, but will be accompanied by various types of music. In fact your "Combines" themselves will be much like reading a beat poem or listening to free-form jazz. This course is for enthusiastic beginners and artists who want to start their engines again. RSVP by September 28 to reserve your place.
