New Council Members, No New Swimming Pool and a Marin Hospital Facelift, Election Results

John McCauley, Jessica Jackson win City Council seats, Marin Hospital measure passes and voters say "no" to $7 million for Strawberry Recreation District.

Mill Valley has voted — John McCauley (37.59%) with 1648 votes, and Jessica Jackson (31.59%) with 1385 votes will be your new Mill Valley City Council members. A total of 4384 Mill Valley residents participated in this election result.

MEASURE J-STRAWBERRY RECREATION DISTRICT, No

Voters turned down a measure that would have allowed a $7 million bond to be issued in order to finance acquisition and construction of pool area renovations and other recreational improvements in Strawberry. Needing two-thirds majority votes to pass, of the 776 residents who votes, just over half, 52.96%, said no.

Shall the Strawberry Recreation District incur bonded indebtedness of not to exceed $7,000,000 to finance the acquisition, construction and completion of certain recreational improvements, including but not limited to main building improvements, new bathrooms, pool area renovations with a new pool house, new playground features and activity spaces, enhanced plaza and seating, hillside amphitheater, tennis courts, athletic field improvements and bleacher seating, for the benefit of the District, its residents and children?

A $394 million bond has passed, to be issued in order to make seismic upgrades to Marin General Hospital and to keep open Marin County's only Designated Trauma Center. Needing a two-thirds vote to pass, of the 33,978 voters who voted on the measure, 68.02% said yes.

To make seismic upgrades to Marin General Hospital to meet stricter California earthquake standards and keep open Marin County’s only Designated Trauma Center; to expand and enhance emergency and other medical facilities; to provide the latest lifesaving medical facilities for treatment of heart, stroke, cancer and other diseases, and to reduce ER wait times, shall the Marin Healthcare District issue $394,000,000 in bonds to improve Marin General Hospital and related facilities with new construction, acquisitions, and renovations?
