VIDEO: Residents Come Out in Droves for Comedy In The Plaza

Jake Johannsen, The Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead and San Anselmo native Arj Barker kept a packed house in stitches.

Hundreds packed into the Depot Plaza Wednesday evening for an evening of Comedy in the Plaza, the ever-growing Mill Valley Art Commission event that features top-notch comedians in a venue that is far removed from the dank, dark comedy clubs where they usually ply their trade.

This year's event featured perennial host Mark Pitta, as well as headliner Jake Johannsen, The Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead and San Anselmo native Arj Barker.

Winstead poked gentle fun at Mill Valley, saying, "You have TWO Whole Foods? You have WAY too much money here. You kept out Trader Joe's – didn't want the riff raff."

Johannsen, meanwhile, had the crowd in stitches with tales about being a dad, taking his daughter's hamster to the vet, opting for the pat-down while going through airport security and not understanding the concept of wife swapping. He concluded with some wisdom he gathered while observing his daughter: "When your happy, you should tell another person."

Did you go? What did you think?
