The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most recognizable icons in the world and also one of the most photographed. In his 2000 book, The Gate: The True Story of the Design and Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, author John Van Der Zee called the iconic bridge "America's Parthenon."
