Teen Shot and Killed in Marin City

A 17-year-old who was visiting his family from the Northern California town of Weed was shot and killed early Friday morning.

A Northern California man who was visiting relatives in Marin City was fatally shot early this morning, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

The 17-year-old Weed resident suffered multiple gunshot wounds, sheriff's Lt. Jamie Scardina said.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the shooting in the 300 block of Drake Avenue at 12:20 a.m. and found the victim's body near a walkway, Scardina said. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities were not yet releasing his name.

Scardina said the teen had recently been staying with family members in Marin City.

Officers were interviewing witnesses this morning to determine a motive. There is no suspect description at this time, Scardina said.
