Join Us for National Night Out - Tuesday, August 5

The City of Mill Valley would like to invite the community to collaborate with their neighbors to organize events in celebration of National Night Out - Tuesday, August 5, 2014.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen communities by encouraging community leaders to engage in stronger relationships with each other and their local law enforcement partners. National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive, and enjoyable program as it heightens crime-prevention and safety awareness and builds support and participation in those efforts. Knowing your neighbors is the single best tool residents have against crime, especially burglaries. National Night Out has been held annually since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. More information and project ideas can be found at www.nationalnightout.org.

The Mill Valley Police Department is joining the National Night Out program for the second year and will be coordinating with local homeowner associations, the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, and other interested parties to create a successful annual event.

The Mill Valley Police Department would like to invite the members of the community to collaborate with their neighbors to organize an event in their neighborhood. Examples of events include block parties, ice cream socials, games, contests, discussing neighborhood issues or setting goals, food or clothing donations, planning a clean-up day, beautifying a common area, or kicking off a Neighborhood Watch Program. Law enforcement personnel will visit registered events and engage in community outreach.

There is still plenty of time for interested residents to register for this event. Deadline to sign up is July 10. To register or find out more information, please call Community Services Officer Sheryl Patton at 415-389-4100 x 4118 or email info@cityofmillvalley.org.
