Movie director Woody Allen and his family enjoyed a quiet lunch at Left Bank Brasserie in Larkspur Wednesday after he wrapped up an early day of shooting for his new romatic comedy.
A manager at the restaurant wouldn't tell Patch what Allen ordered for lunch, but said "most people let him eat in peace. There was one table of people kind of gawking, but it was pretty quiet."
Allen had spent the morning shooting a scene nearby at the Escalle Winery property. The actor/director behind the movies Annie Hall and Midnight in Paris also did some filmwork in Belvedere on Monday and reportedly returned to Marin on Tuesday to film on a bayfront street in the Paradise Cay neighborhood of unincorporated Tiburon, according to the Marin Independent Journal.
Monday's shoot took place at a Belvedere home on Britton Avenue. , the crews were filming a daytime party scene. The call was looking for "clean cut, sophisticated, conservative-looking Marin types" in their 30s to 40s to cast as extras.
The film crew and cast are rumored to include Cate Blanchett, Louis C.K., Alec Baldwin and Peter Sarsgaard. The Tiburon Ark newspaper snapped pictures of Blanchett, Louis C.K. and Allen in Belvedere early Monday morning as they arrived at the private residence where they were filming.
The untitled film, referred to as the "Woody Allen Summer Project," is about a wealthy woman who finds herself broke and in San Francisco, living with her sister and downsizing her life. It will be set in San Francisco and parts of Marin, according to the San Francisco Film Commission.
She eventually meets a man in the Bay Area who could solve her financial problems, but she first needs to discover who she is and, more importantly, accept San Francisco as her home.
The film crew and cast are also rumored to include Alec Baldwin and Peter Sarsgaard. It will be set in the Mission, the avenues in the western end of San Francisco, the Marina District and parts of Marin County, according to the commission. The filming in the Bay Area will reportedly continue until the end of the month.
Some Bay Area actors are supposed to also be included in the project, which also has scenes filmed in New York City.
The film, produced by Perdido Productions based in New York, is expected to be released by the end of 2013.
Allen has been spotted dining throughout the Bay Area, including at Servino in Tiburon and at San Francisco restaurants Esperpento, Kokkari, Rose Pistola and Zuni.
