What Should Go Here: Britannia Arms in Aptos

What should replace the now vacant building that was Britannia Arms in Aptos.

For 18 years, Britannia Arms was a staple in Aptos. It was the spot to watch the game, grab a beer and even sing karaoke (for the adventurous).

Financial woes saw the local institution close its doors in late November, although the Capitola Village location is still as lively as ever.

With the building potentially available to a new tenant, what would you like to see fill the space? Another restaurant? Something completely different? Tell us in the comments!

Over on Facebook a reader named Steve suggested the following. What do you think? More ideas? "Affordable family style restaraunt - Look how popular Burger is already and the great little cafe in Rio Del Mar closed last year. (something a little healthier would certainly be appreciated)"

Aptos needs a quality homestyle breakfast place, that building is kind of big though... Maybe Burger. should move there, the current location is way too small. Plus they would have a patio!

I hope it remains a restaurant - we need more places to eat in this area. Hopefully one that stays open for dinner - there are a number of places that just serve breakfast and lunch in the area. Seeing how long it takes sometimes for vacant places to find tenants another thought is that maybe a couple of the businesses that will be displaced by the expansion at Rancho Del Mar could move there - possibly on a temperary basis. Since it is a fairly large space maybe a pairing such as Aptos Burger in the restaurant side and Baskin Robbins on the bar side could work.

LaceyLoo - have you tried Red Apple Cafe at Deer Park Center? They have great breakfast selections and you can even bring you dogs and eat on the patio.

The reason the building has so many exterior doors is because at one time there were 3 or 4 store fronts there.
