Mill Valley Library Relaunches Library Card Discount Program

Public library officials rekindle Your Library Card Saves You Cash program that allows library card holders to receive discounts at 23 local shops throughout September.

 

Your card can get you more than books these days it can save you some bucks.

Wave your library card at 23 local businesses for discounts on shopping, dining and more throughout the month of September. We’re talking 10 to 25 percent off at places like , , and more.

The library has relaunched its popular Your Library Card Saves You Cash program, which began in 2011 in conjunction with . After "fantastic results," the program has become an annual event to promote both the library and the importance of shopping locally, according to coordinator Shannon Jones.

“Last year we received positive feedback from every direction," she said. "The Mill Valley Library signed up over 180 new library cardholders in September, nearly a 30 percent increase from the previous year. Our patrons were excited to receive discounts around town, and local businesses were happy to have new customers and a community incentive to shop locally."

Look for Your Library Saves You Cash signs on retail counters and in the windows of participating businesses. Shoppers can also use their smart phones to scan the QR code on the signs for a full list of participating business.

Mill Valley Library cards are free to California residents who do not yet have a card in Marin. Through the end of September, the Mill Valley Library will also waive the $1 replacement fee for patrons who have lost their cards.
