Readers' Choice: Who Serves Up the Best Steak in Town?

From El Paseo's house of chops to Buckeye's slate of prime cuts and a few in between, the 94941 is the place for steak. So who serves up the best?

When Tyler Florence and Sammy Hagar in March 2011, the celebrity duo raised the stakes, so to speak, on where to find the best steak in Mill Valley.

With the holding the crown for years, and a number of other acclaimed local restaurants serving up prime cuts, we want to hear from: who has the best steak in town?

Voting (rules attached at right) comes in two forms: you can vote once in the poll below, but the poll is not scientific and is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. You also weigh in by rating the entry on their page in Mill Valley Patch Places directory (links below). The poll goes away after a few days, but the positive reviews and ratings stay forever with your favorite business -- plus they count heavily in the contest judging too!

Here are the entries, but if missed a great steak in the 94941, let us know in the comments and we'll add it right away.

Now let's hear it: who has the best steak in Mill Valley?

Reasons why Buckeye has the best steak 1) Consistancy 2) Cooked to perfection ie: carmelized exterior 3) Prime, well marbled beef 4) Price isn't over the top 5) Housemade steak sauce and compound butter a perfect addition 6) Handcut fries on the side. All good!!!

My wife Martha, and I have made the Buckeye Roadhouse and Bungalow 44 a big part of our social calendar. We enjoy entertaining in an atmosphere of fun people and creative food. The Buckeye and Bungalow 44 gets our Irmer 4 start rating!

You cannot beat Buckeye. Consistent and excellent. In both food and service. Marcia Smolens

Buckeye rules, there are no two ways around it. You just can't beat it, although I appreciate people for trying!

i love the steak at Tyler Florence's Hawk's Tavern. Casual setting but a wonderful dish!

Rick ~ gotta agree with you ~ between the steak and the salmon BLT at Hawk's Tavern, it's always difficult to choose!

Buckeye is one of the best restaurant in my opinion. Great food, great location, and the best staff. Been going to Buckeye for over 10 years now and just can't wait to go back the next time.

Hawks is the best in the bunch for me. It's a relative newcomer, but all the food is spot on and they have the best eclectic beer selection in town.

Steak-wise, the coffee-crusted ribeye at B44 is out this world. Definitely a must-have if you've not before!
