Readers' Choice: What's Best Sushi Place in Marin?

Whether you prefer the classic simplicity of the kappa maki (cucumber roll) or the flamboyant styling of a tempura shrimp roll, Marin has a boat-load of sushi restaurants that serve up just about every style.

Although modern sushi has little resemblence to the ancient lacto-fermented rice dish that was served in Japan centuries ago, it's still incredibly delicious. It's good to get a little raw in your life (as long as it's fresh). So let us know where you go for a fish fix.

The nominees for the best sushi restuarant in Marin are:

What I think people should be aware of is that the nori has now been contaminated with radiation. According to one study, the seaweed off the Pacific coast is now 500% higher in radioactive iodine 137- that affects your throid, than before Fukushima. I wouldn't even consider eating the nori from Japan and would ask your local sushi restaurant where they buy their nori wraps. We need to find out how much radiation is in Nori and I don't think we know that at this time. An article written this year- California Slammed With Fukushima Radiation Posted on March 30, 2012 by WashingtonsBlog www.washingtonsblog.com/2012/03/california-slammed-with-fukushima-radiation.html The Journal Environmental Science and Technology reports in a new study that the Fukushima radiation plume contacted North America at California “with greatest exposure in central and southern California”, and that Southern California’s seaweed tested over 500% higher for radioactive iodine-131 than anywhere else in the U.S. and Canada: Projected paths of the radioactive atmospheric plume emanating from the Fukushima reactors, best described as airborne particles or aerosols for 131I, 137Cs, and 35S, and subsequent atmospheric monitoring showed it coming in contact with the North American continent at California, with greatest exposure in central and southern California. Government monitoring sites in Anaheim (southern California) recorded peak airborne concentrations of 131I at 1.9 pCi m−3

Come on now, people. Sushi Ran is the best sushi in Marin by a country mile. It might not be worth the money you pay there, but it is the best. 69 isn't even in the ballpark.
mike jones July 23, 2012 at 06:23 pm
