Pop-Up Clothing Shop Opens in Former Showroom Space

Outback in the Temple of Venus' owner Devi Jacobs, who had a clothing shop in Mill Valley 20 years ago, opens a store at 30 Miller Ave. at least through the end of July.

One of the most prominent vacant storefronts in Mill Valley has a new tenant, at least for now.

Devi Jacobs, a longtime Bay Area clothing retailer who had a store in Mill Valley 20 years ago, has opened a pop-up location of her Outback in the Temple of Venus here at 30 Miller Ave, the downtown space . Jacobs, a Point Richmond resident who has a shop of the same name there, expects the store to be at 30 Miller at least through the end of July.

“It’s crazy – so many people have been coming up to me to say how much they loved our store here 20 years ago and that they’re glad we’re back,” Jacobs says of her former location in the 1990s at Easst Blithedale and Throckmorton avenues where is located now. “I mean, I don’t even remember.”

Jacobs, who calls her shop’s clothing style “comfortable, flattering and fun,” said she’s open to keeping the store in Mill Valley beyond July depending on how well the business does in that location and if it makes sense to stay there long-term.

“I do seem to have a huge group of women that are loyal to us – I call them my love tribe,” Jacobs says.
