Marin County Reportedly One of the Nation's Best Counties to Work In

After analyzing U.S. Census and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, consumer finance website, NerdWallet, has dubbed Marin County the Nation's 7th best county to be employed in. Here's why they say Marin tops 1800-other counties.

Do you love working in Marin? Turns out, you’re not alone. Consumer finance website NerdWallet conducted a study to find the best counties to work in, and Marin County came in at number seven.

According to their website, there are many job seekers looking for areas with good job opportunities Nationwide. As some of these same job seekers explore the options available in different areas of the country, they decided to evaluate which counties were the best to work in, based on economic indicators, prospective growth and quality of life, basing their decision on these four questions:

  1. Are there jobs?  The company looked at the unemployment rate to assess the city’s economy and your chance of securing a good job.  This was weighted at 30% of the overall score.
  2. Do residents earn high salaries?  The study included the median income for full-time, year-round workers in our analysis. This was weighted at 30% of the overall score.
  3. Is the city growing?  Then they examined the population growth of the city to see if the city is on the rise and is attracting workers. This was weighted at 30% of the overall score.
  4. Are commutes short?  Long commutes and long hours can affect one’s work-life balance.  This was weighted at 10% of the overall score.

Based on their data findings, collected from the U.S. Census and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and more than 1800 counties — Marin County was the only California to make the Top 10.
