Frugal Family: The Best Deals in Town

This week's deals feature everything from organic dairy to solar-powered pizza, and culminate in a romantic getaway right in our own backyard.

This week in Mill Valley, you can score deals on pizza, skincare, a health club membership, organic dairy products, and - in honor of Valentine's Day - a special hotel deal at the newly-renovated on Richardson Bay.

1. Mill Valley Market For those of you whose little ones have big appetites, our local grocer has discounts on Clover Organic dairy products: a gallon of milk for $6.49 (regular $6.99); 16 oz. container of organic cottage cheese for $4.59 (regular $4.99); and a dozen large brown organic eggs for $4.19 (regular $4.99).

2. Is pizza the one meal that the whole family can agree on? Click here for $6 off any large pizza at Stefano's, the tastiest solar-powered pizza around.

3.  Looking for a little pick-me-up before Valentine's Day? Score a $100 gift certificate at SkinSpirit in Mill Valley for only $50 through SFSpree.com. Use your certificate for top-of-the-line skincare products, massage, acupuncture, laser hair removal, and (literally) everything in between. Offer good through Feb. 16.

4. Mill Valley Health Club Moms and dads will appreciate the value in this deal. In honor of its 12th anniversary, the club is reducing its regular $195 initial joining fee to $12. Visit the club or call 380-8787 for more details.

5. This one isn't terribly frugal, but Valentine's Day calls for grand gestures. Surprise your honey with a getaway close to home with the hotel's Love Naturally package. Rates start at $149 and include a romantic picnic basket pre-packed with healthy snacks, a blanket, and a bottle of sparkling wine. Even better, the deal runs through the month of February, so no need to worry about making it happen on the 14th.

So wish I could be there for the Memorial Day Parade and picnic. I used to join in the fun forRead More years!

I guess I can't hit the enter button because that submits the post so from now on (until they fixRead More the problem), all of my posts will be one paragraph. What Angelina did was her choice, based on the multi-billion dollar per cancer industry, and by the people that like do unnecessary surgeries to line their pockets. Ask one of those male doctors if he is willing to have his testicles removed "just in case" he might get testicular cancer in the future. I'll bet that they would laugh at anyone who proposed that question. There are many ways that people can take care of their bodies to prevent cancer, like taking vitamin D, magnesium, selenium, turmeric and many more anti-inflammatory herbs. Also diet and environmental factors play a role in the pre-disposition to get cancer. In most cases, genes only play about a 5% role in a chance of inheriting or contracting cancer. But this big business of cancer research doesn't want hear about anything else besides expensive pharmaceutical drugs and surgery, anything else would threaten their business model. This post is a test of the new Patch commenting system.

Thanks Jim W. for your reply and explaining things to us. I look forward to a new Patch where peopleRead More are more considerate of other's opinions. I hope the new filters get rid of the hacker/trolls. And by the way, if you don't port over the comments about the transgender shower sharing article that I glanced at last night, you will be doing all of us a favor !

Thanks Rico. You make great points. We had a bit of a tech glitch in that some content from earlierRead More this week did not migrate over yet to the new sites - but it'll all be there soon. And yes, we'll have more info on how to navigate the site. I'll direct you here with any specific questions for now: https://patchsupport.zendesk.com/home But if that doesn't cover it or if you'd prefer to ask me, feel free - happy to help. And that goes for anyone out there with a question about how to get around on the new site.
