Flower Power: Who's the Best Florist in Town?

In the latest installment of our Readers' Choice series, we look at two shops at opposite ends of town keeping local homes and businesses bright. Who's the best?

For nearly 27 years, the Bloomathon volunteers have been making Mill Valley one of the brightest, most colorful spots on the Bay Area map, planting flowers all over town.

But who's keeping the interiors of Mill Valley florally stimulated? Where do residents and businesses go to buy the best flowers in town? We have two stalwarts - Mill Valley Flowers and Green Door Design - each located at opposite ends of town.

We want to hear from you: who's the best?

Voting (rules attached at right) comes in two forms: you can vote once in the poll below, but the poll is not scientific and is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. You also weigh in by rating the entry on their page in Mill Valley Patch Places directory (links below). The poll goes away after a few days, but the positive reviews and ratings stay forever with your favorite business -- plus they count heavily in the contest judging too!

Here are the entries, but if missed a great flower vendor in the 94941, let us know in the comments and we'll add it right away.

Green Door Design has been absolutely fabulous to me! The staff is professional, friendly, speedy, and always so helpful with ideas for exactly what I am looking for or need. They have done some amazing arrangements for my home and as gifts. Friends are always asking me about the flowers/arrangements in my house. The owner, Susie, will even make "house calls" to see what type/color plants/flowers will fit with the rest of your decor...she has a keen eye. They sell special pots/planters, as well as some very cool, hard to find items for your plants/garden or home. This is THE place to buy orchids of all types. Lovely succulents too that look great in the long rectangle "stone" holders they sell. GDD is tucked away behind the OLD BELL MARKET at the Hub in MV-in the lot behind Rocco Dance Center. On the right corner of the Bell lot as you are driving in. I never knew they were there until a friend let me in on the secret. Check it out...you won't be disappointed. Thank you to Susie and the GDD staff! -Elizabeth

I buy my flowers from BLOOMINGAYLES in Mill Valley. The owner Gayle Nicoletti is a talented Florist. Her innovative designs, bouquets and arrangements are simply beautiful and my clients always comment on how long her flowers last. She used to have a shop next to the Post Office but now works from her large studio in her Mill Valley Home. ( she is also part of this years SF Decorator Showcase). I sometimes buy some of her designs at Cabana Home in Mill Valley, or visit her studio to pick a bunch of flowers or some spring branches for my home. Check out her website at: www.gaylenicoletti.com and you can see her work.
