Cactus Cafe Closes After 17 Years

The Mexican restaurant next to the Marin Theater Company shut its doors in early May. Another restaurant may soon open in the space.

After 17 years at 393 Miller Ave. next to the Marin Theater Company, Cactus Café has closed its doors.

The Mexican restaurant went out of business in early May, according to Mark Cooper of HL Commercial Real Estate, which handles the leasing for the property.

“(The restaurant has) changed hands a few times,” Cooper said. “I’ve heard it wasn’t the same.”

The building is owned by Shapiro Associates, and Cooper said he has four offers on the space – all from experienced restaurant operators with other successful locations looking to expand to Mill Valley. He estimates a new tenant should be in the building in about a month, depending on negotiations.
